A.-Hoffmann-Kammerorchester Berlin is the chamber orchestra of the "Musikschule" of Berlin's district Charlottenburg- Wilmersdorf (former West- Berlin) and comprises about 20 non professional musicians. It is financially supported by the district's administration. </div> <bR> <div> The orchestra was founded by Dinah Backhaus and Matthias Wildenhof. It celebrated it's tenth anniversary in 2004. </div> <bR> <div> The ensemble includes well trained amateurs and semi-professional musicians. The orchestra took the name of ETA Hoffmann because he is a perfect symbol illustrating the situation of most of the members of the orchestra: in addition to a „normal“ occupation ETA Hoffmann was artistically active and creative in free time.</div> <bR> <div> ETA.Hoffmann (1776-1822) acts as a godfather in many ways:</div> <div> Hoffmanns „normal“ profession was being a jurist at the Berlin Court of Chambers but he dedicated himself with enthusiasm in his free time to various artforms as writing, painting and composing.
